MN Office of Higher Education Report

The University of Minnesota Duluth publishes the data on sexual assault in compliance with Minn. Stat. § 135A.15, subd. 6. These data are also submitted to the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE). The full OHE report may be found here

These data include only incidents of sexual assault including rape, sex offenses (fondling), and sex offenses (statutory rape) that were reported between January 1 and December 31.

The numbers are reflective of a scope that includes sexual assaults in which
• Either the alleged victim or respondent was a member of the campus community (employee or student) at the time of the incident; or
• The incident occurred on the institution’s campus (or on property owned/rented by the institution); or,
• The incident occurred at an institutionally-sponsored event

For more detailed explanations of the scope and definition of the data below, please refer to the Sexual Assault Data Reporting Manual. Following the example of the practice of the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, and in compliance with federal and state data student education records privacy laws, UMD has suppressed data in cells for which there are fewer than 10 students. Questions about this page should be directed to Christina Kaberline, Director of UMD’s Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution - [email protected], or (218) 726-7255.

It is important to note that these data are compiled according to the definitions and directions provided in the State Statute. Those definitions and directions are not the same as those found in the Federal The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. Therefore the numbers in this report may differ than those in UMD's Annual Campus Security Report, found on the UMDPD website.
